Executive Profile: Stephanie M. Dougherty, BSN, RN, CPPS, LSS  is President and CEO of Inspired Resilience, LLC, is a recognized leader in healthcare, performance, patient safety and nursing with comprehensive background in multiple modalities, including holistic nursing.  As a Certified Independent HeartMath Trainer, her practice and considerable expertise brings insight and results to individuals and organizations:


Stephanie M. Dougherty 's portfolio is a record of successful results in healthcare implementing sustained improvement strategies. She is the lead High Reliability Organization (HRO) developer and Director of Patient Safety/Patient Safety Officer in her other role. Her background includes experience as Director of Risk Management/Patient Advocate and a wide ranging clinical nursing career. Ms. Dougherty completed Lean Six Sigma at VillaNova University and completed an Executive Fellowship in Patient Safety from Virginia Commonwealth University. She became Master Trainer and leader of the organization wide TeamSTEPPS initiative, implementing AHRQ’s TeamSTEPPS, the precursor to HRO skills and safety huddles. Under her leadership and guidance, TeamSTEPPS became so successful in reducing harmful outcomes that the insurance company continues to acknowledge this achievement at the annual board meeting. In concert with her personal HeartMath practice, she practices Transcendental Meditation (TM)  and brought TM into the organization as a tuition reimbursed course; she also created a zero interest credit union loan to bridge the cost. Ms. Dougherty is published on patient safety, presented as panelist with Dr. Peter Pronovst on driving safety culture and a presenter at state and national conferences. In 2011 she was awarded the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year for Quality Improvement and in 2014 was awarded Hunterdon Healthcare’s Leadership Excellence Award. Ms. Dougherty is an  inspiring leader, co creating, and empowering individual and organization wide achievements to sustain performance results with innovation. A hallmark of her contribution is a talent for vision and detail, asking “wicked questions” to shed light helping others remove barriers. She is a passionate advocate for “Zero Is the Number and Now is the Time.” Ms. Dougherty's career continues with HeartMath to empower safer care by reducing stress, a proven cause of human and system error and improving  performance through resilience.
